Adrian Goicea

Adrian Goicea, Country Manager, Iberdrola Renewables

Adrian Goicea is, since 2009, Country Manager of Iberdrola Renovables S.A. in Romania. Prior to this (2006-2009), he was Country Manager for UPC Wind Energy LLC, an American private company for wind parks development, running projects focused on wind generation in Romania.

Between 2004 and 2006 Mr. Goicea was General Manager of Hidrotech SA, a private company licensed as electric power trader and a consultant in the energy field. He was also Director for Energy Resources with ALRO S.A., the Romanian primary aluminum smelter, the biggest sole consumer of electric power, responsible for the consumption of over 6% of the Romanian electricity output. In this position he was responsible for the strategy design to ensure a steady, secure and competitive supply of electric energy and natural gas. He also carried extensive negotiations with Hidroelectrica SA, ANRE – the electric energy regulator, Ministry of Economy and Commerce and other related entities carried out to this end.

Between 2001-2003 Adrian Goicea was Chief Executive Officer of OPCOM S.A., the Romanian wholesale electric power market operator, in charge of administering Romania’s whole electric power output, over 50,000 MWh per year.

Mr.'s Goicea studies consists in: M.Sc., Statistics and Economic Cybernetics, Academy of Economic Studies - Bucharest, 1972-1977, where he ranked 4 out of 140; a 2-months course in foreign relations, at “Stefan Gheorghiu” Academy - Bucharest in 1981; 3 years specialization training in personal computers, State Committee for Planning, between 1986-1988; 3 weeks training course in Energy Efficiency & Conservation organized by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Korea Energy Management Corporation  (KEMCO) in Seul, in 2002.
